Military time is a method of telling time where the hours are numbered from 00 to 23. This system was developed to make it easier for the military and emergency services to communicate over radio and other communication channels. To read military time, the hours are counted the same way as normal time but instead of 12-hour increments (e.g. 1:00 pm), they are shown as 24-hour increments (e.g. 1300). While the minutes remain the same 0–59 as civilian time, there is no "AM" or "PM" designation in military time – thus making it easier for personnel working in different shifts or at night to easily track their shifts and appointments.

For example, 8:15 AM would be written as 0815 in military time while 8:15 PM would be written as 2015 in military time – both with no "AM" or "PM" clarifyers.

To convert from standard to military (or vice versa) time is pretty simple; all you have to do is add or subtract twelve from your number depending on what direction you're going in. For example, if you wanted to convert 2:35 PM into military time it would be 1435 since 1435 is 2 + 12 = 1435 MT (military time). On the other hand if you wanted to convert 1235 MT into standard time it would be 12 - 12 = 0035 ST (standard time).
